Introducing
our new scheduled Day Trips in Britain
With global travel being so severely impacted by Covid-19, we thought
it would be helpful to provide a series of day trips during the coming
year, led by Lance and Nick, to a selection of excellent British birding
destinations. With Yorkshire and the Humber, and Dorset and surrounding
counties being our home bases, we believe we can offer an intimate
look at some wonderful habitats and a great selection of birds throughout
the seasons.
The
birding and wildlife on offer in Britain can be just as exciting and
rewarding as that to be found abroad. Many of us, prompted by current
limitations on foreign travel, have been discovering a renewed interest
in our own country, perhaps for its beautiful scenery and warm hospitality
or for its wildlife and birding spectacles. Being able to share this
in a small group setting, whilst adhering to any Covid regulations
in place at the time, we hope to enable our clients to reconnect with
nature and provide a satisfying way of continuing our wonderful hobby.
For
each trip we would provide a rendezvous point and time, usually after
the morning rush hour (though possibly earlier for some trips) from
where, after meeting and greeting, we would explore one or more neighbouring
sites for the remainder of the day. We will usually conclude around
late afternoon, though half day trips are perfectly feasible. Depending
on the coronavirus restrictions in place at the time, clients would
be expected to bring their own vehicle for the day.
Lance
and Nick look forward to welcoming and guiding you again, enjoying
a few hours together at some of Britain's finest birding locations.
Cost
and Booking
Please e-mail or phone us to check first on availability for each
day trip. The price of our one-day specials will be £55 per
person, half days for £35. Once we confirm your place, payment
can then be made by banking transfer to our account (details on the
booking page of this website), or by cheque,
or even cash on the day.
Customer
chosen day trips and possible extensions to trips to 2 days and more
If the date we have scheduled for a day trip is not convenient for
you, and you would like to select your own, then that's fine. Please
just contact us to discuss this option and subject to our availability
we'll put on a new trip especially for you, again led by ourselves,
under the same arrangements as above.
You
may also have an alternative destination in mind for a day trip. Again,
that's no problem. Please just contact us to discuss this option.
We would help organise the day out and provide your guiding on the
day.
Extensions
to any of our one-day trips - it's up to you
If you would like to spend more than one day at the destination, please
let us know and we can offer extensions of one or more days subject
to it being mutually convenient for you and ourselves. Please just
let us know and we will tailor the extra days into an even more fulfilling
trip.
Base
prices will be generally be on a pro-rata basis for each extra day,
though we would be obliged to pass on additional costs incurred by
your Birding Abroad guide having to stay away from home as part of
your package.
Safety
compliance and Day Trip arrangements
It is imperative that we all remain safe in these troubling times.
To that end we intend to follow strictly any guidelines in place at
the time of the trip. You should not join a day trip if you or someone
that you have been in close contact with, has displayed symptoms of
Covid-19 during the previous 14 days. Equally you should not join
a day trip if you receive an alert from the NHS Track and Trace. Please
let us know if you become ineligible as above and we will ensure you
receive a full refund.
At
the time of booking we will provide you with our chosen meeting point
and our personal contact details to ensure we can liaise and meet
easily. You may need your own vehicle depending on Covid restrictions
applicable at the time. Please bring your own packed lunch and drinks
(though when possible, we will take a short comfort break at a café
where there will be time for a snack).
Come
prepared for any changes in the weather, this is Britain of course!
with adequate footwear and outdoor clothing. Being able to 'layer
up and down' according to the prevailing weather is always the best
strategy
On
the day, please ensure you follow Covid rules with regard to wearing
face masks, washing hands (have sanitiser with you) and on social
distancing. We will do our very best to ensure that you get the best
views of birds and wildlife, so don't forget your optics. We do have
spare binoculars we can bring along if necessary.
